The Paladin

Featured on The Brothers Brick!

The Paladin is my second SHIP (seriously huge investment in parts). It is a warship designed to disable carriers (with its two fixed cannons on the roof), and then escape before fighters can be sent in pursuit.

The Paladin is 152 studs long (4 feet) and weighs 20 lbs. It took over two months to build.

I named it the Paladin because it turned out (quite accidentally) to have a sword-like shape when viewed from above.

I drool over this every now and again. Can I pay you to build something for me?

This ship is amazing and brilliant.
Bill gerlach (from Seattle) June 19, 2009, 9:27 pm
Ok..just one suggestion. The stands might look better in a dark grey or black. The white detracts a bit.

Did I say the ship is PERFECT?

Thanks everyone!

Bill, I filled a whole Pick A Brick bucket with 1 x 2 clear bricks at the Lego store yesterday. That should solve my problem of always making white stands for my ships.

Could you email me the instructions?
Jacob Awsome April 15, 2010, 12:13 am
I'm selling all my lego sets to build some sort of space carrier I'm designing this year.
Do you have any tips on how to build huge projects?

I'm honored that you would want to build a copy of this SHIP, but it would take weeks of work to make instructions. Even if I had the time to do it, the Paladin has been disassembled, so it would be impossible.

Building a SHIP takes a lot of planning ahead, and a lot of patience. For my current project (considerably larger than the Paladin), I designed a rough layout on my computer, printed it onto 10 pages, and taped the pages together so that I would have a life-sized reference.

Adrian Drake wrote an excellent article about SHIP-building. Here's a link: http://www.brickfrenzy.com/shiparticle/howtobuildaship.html

What did you use for the thrusters? I have a couple of ideas for the thrusters on my first ship but I none of them look as amazing as what you use.

The Design of this ship has given me a whole new out-look on Lego mega structures. Very, very Impressive.
